On 25 Sep 1866 when Rachel was 17, she married Arthur Addison IRVIN,1 in Drakesville, Iowa.1 Arthur Addison died in McPherson, Kansas.

William Poland BURNET.1 Born on 2 Jan 1853 in Monroe Co., Iowa.1 Immigrated in 1903 to Stafford Co., Kansas from Iowa.1 Resided in their 160 acre farm 6 miles north of St. John.1 William Poland died in St. John, Kansas on 10 Aug 1907; he was 54.1 Cause of death: injuries received in a tornado.1

On 7 Oct 1879 when William Poland was 26, he married Adella Elizabeth RITCHIE,1 daughter of John K. RITCHIE & Eunice COOK.1 Born on 1 Jan 1853 in near Center, Williams Co., Ohio.1 Adella Elizabeth died in Dodge City, Kansas on 9 Aug 1938; she was 85.1 Buried in St. John, Kansas.1

WILLIAM POLAND BURNET (Charlotte6 Johnson, Zerelda5 Wilcoxen, Elijah4, Samuel3, John2,        ) b. 2 Jan., 1853, Monroe Co., Iowa; d. 10 Aug., 1907, St. John, Kans.; m. 7 Oct., 1879, Adella Elizabeth Ritchie, b. 1 Jan., 1853, near Center, Williams Co., Ohio; d. 9 Aug., 1938, Dodge City, Kans.; bur. St. John, Kans., dau. of John K. and Eunice (Cook) Ritchie. They moved from Iowa to Stafford Co., Kans., in 1903 and built additions to the house, barn and granaries on their 160 acre farm six miles north of St. John. Only four years later, 22 June, 1907, on a Saturday evening, a tornado destroyed all of the

bulidings. William Burnet and the two daughters were in the home at the time. He was seriously injured, receiving a broken neck which paralyzed him and he died seven weeks later. The girls escaped with minor injuries and were happy to have their mother return that night from a week's visit with her sister in Kansas City, Mo.
